Hi to All;
I joined a while back but am posting for the first time now. Am looking forward to some interesting exchanges. At the moment I'm feeling a bit annoyed due to a little too much believer "intervention" on another board I frequent, but hopefully I won't be irritable.

I've enjoyed what I've read here so far. It's always fun to be among smart people.

I can't speak for the others, Reasoner, but if you have any specific threads from another forum you want some allies addressing, post a link. Either we can post suggestions you can cut and paste, or join the forum just to reply to the thread in support of your position.

Skeptigirl, thank you. I may very well bring some links here. Although I have been finding that a couple of threads I started on the other forum to address the issue of believer intrusion have at least gotten a number of earnest replies, I am having a hard time dealing with my own anger at the fact that not even in cyberspace can nonbelievers have privacy from the marauding missionaries.

Just mess with their heads. That's what I do. :D

For example, the story of Lot sucks big time. Give them the real version instead of the one framed for Sunday School.

Lot was all too willing to throw his virgin daughters to rapists. Lot's wife was obliterated for the most minor disobedience. And Lot had incestuous sex with his daughters then blamed them for it. Gee, what a great story!

God thought it was just fine to kill all the Amalekites including infants and children so the Jews could steal their land. That's a loving God, alright.

Anyway, that's how I mess with the Christians who come to the door.

Hey guys and gals, this is the only board I'm currently a member of.  I came to this board to be among atheists, yet I feel compelled to argue with the theistic posts on this board for some reason (although these have mostly been pleasant, polite conversations).  Since atheists are almost always outnumbered in life, sign me up too, I'll be happy to lend a hand and "stick it out" on another forum (esp. if it's a non-religious forum --- I'm not into waging de-conversion wars on religious sites).  My philosophy isn't very eloquent (I'm a beer swilling engineer, so go figure right?), but I'd be more than happy to do what I can to help.  Besides, the ability to do comes from doing, so how else am I going to improve?

Solidarity, my brothers and sisters!

Thanks, Steve. It lifts my mood just to see these posts from sincere nonbelievers.

At this point, I really do believe that the end-of-the-millenium religion craze will slowly play itself out. Not that I am naive enough to think that there will not always be religion and some form of the Babble. I just think it's likely that the teachings of science will eventually become too difficult for most people of normal intelligence or above to deny by professing they are SURE there's a god.

The other forums I participate and/or moderate in are:

Ionian Spirit: http://tinyurl.com/2vxqvg

It is a general discussion forum, but contains mostly agnostics and atheists. It was started by a former baptists minister, turned atheist. I am a mod. there.

Godless Grief: http://tinyurl.com/2hwefq

This is a support group site for dealing with life, loss, grief, etc. It is not a place to argue. I moderate part of this forum.

SFN (Skeptic Friends Network): http://www.skepticfriends.org/

THIS is the place to argue! In fact, It is pretty rough, and I don't participate a whole lot, because there's just too much "Pole vaulting over mouse turds" going on here. But if you like intense debate, this is where you can find it.

Skepticality Forums: http://tinyurl.com/2uvho2

I'm new to it, but it is a good skeptic forum and the hosts are excellent. Also great skeptic podcasts.
